FAQS

WHY EQUIPMENT PILATES?

It is so much fun! Also, the studio equipment provides your brain with more feedback than say doing the same or a similar exercise on the mat where your limbs are often free in space. Springs provide assistance and resistance to movement and the equipment can also challenge your balance and proprioception. The equipment can help you to feel into your body, become more aware of where to activate movement from correctly, and help to rebalance, strengthen and master the moves.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Comfortable and ideally fitted clothing that allows you to move easily and for me to see how you're moving. No jeans or trousers with back pocket zips or metal rivets please.

WILL YOU GIVE ME HOMEWORK?

If you ask for it! If you're able to do some Pilates exercises at home between our sessions then of course this will help your progress, but it's completely up to you how frequently you practise.

WHAT ABOUT THE MAT?

Mat pilates is a very powerful tool and I teach mat exercises alongside the equipment during studio sessions. Many mat exercises are very challenging and can be seen as a progression from the equipment, whilst other mat exercises are great for beginners. Some mat moves are fantastic for teaching body awareness, they are ideal for home practise and of course, can be done anywhere!
